The Global Investment Contest (GIC) committee is excited to introduce the 2025 AI-Alpha Contest (AIAC), dedicated to exploring AI-Empowered Alpha Seeking stock investment. As the newest addition to the Contest series, established in 2013, this groundbreaking contest marks a bold step forward in the evolution of innovative investment challenges.

The Contest is sponsored by the ACME Society in partnership with Oriental Harbor Investment Management, AInvest and Larson International, in collaboration with Prestige and Fortune Fintech, UBS, CLSA, YOUniversity, GreenFuture, Columbia Global ESG Leadership Association and the Omaha Summit.

Since 2013, the GIC series of investment challenges has attracted over 15,000 contestants worldwide. Many past winners and alumni have built successful careers at top financial and consulting firms, including Goldman Sachs, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, McKinsey, Morgan Stanley, Blackrock and more.   • ​Contest Mission: 
​The goal of the contest is to achieve superior risk-adjusted returns throughout the competition period while leveraging AI tools for fundamental research, technical analytics, portfolio modeling & optimization, and risk management.

Contestants have the option to compete by either managing an online virtual portfolio, or submitting a model portfolio accompanied by an investment thesis.

The Contest orientation includes, but is not limited to, the following themes:
  1. AI-Empowered Alpha Seeking in Classic Value ( Enhancing Warren Buffett's public portfolio )
  2. AI-Empowered Alpha Seeking in Super Tech ( "Magnificent 7" and AI-related companies )
  3. AI-Empowered Alpha Seeking in Sustainability ( Targeting ESG-related companies )

  • Eligibility and Preliminary Round:
  1. Students from all majors are welcome, but a strong interest in finance, economics, business, or data science is recommended.
  2. Send you resume via email to 2025aiac@gmail.com for a qualification check and Preliminary Round Exam. 
  3. Approved contestants will receive a free trading account and further registration guidelines.
  4. Exemptions apply to individuals who have passed CFA Level 1 or higher, the CPA Financial Accounting and Reporting (FAR) core section, received a referral from AIAC institutional partners, or demonstrated a strong track record in finance and investing.

  • Rules: 
  1. Diversify your portfolio by investing in at least 5 stocks from the AIAC pre-selected Investment Pool during the contest period.
  2. Leveraging AI tools for research, analytics, and optimization is required to enhance your investment strategy. 
  3. All participants must adhere to the contest's ethical guidelines, ensuring integrity and originality in their investment strategies.

  • AI Tools:
No specific AI applications or tools are required to participate in the AIAC. However, our contest partner, AInvest, offers a limited number of discounted products, including AIME Pro and AIME Premium available on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • Registration: 
Contestants can register individually or as part of a team, with up to four members. The registration fee is $65 per person. Registration begins on March 10 and ends on June 1, 2025.

  • Final Round Competition
Contestants shall apply for the Final Round Competition after completing at least four weeks of online portfolio management, or by submitting a model portfolio along with a supporting investment thesis.

Applications must be submitted via email to 2025aiac@gmail.com no later than June 30, 2025 with the subject line "2025AIAC Application". Early submissions begin on May 1, 2025.

The Judging Committee will evaluate applications based on the following categories:
  1. Investment Strategy,
  2. Allocation and Securities Selection,
  3. Risk Management,
  4. AI Application,
  5. Portfolio Performance,
  6. Independent Thinking and Creativity.
An online interview with the judges may be arranged for finalists on a case-by-case basis. Final winners will be announced in September 2025.
